One of the reasons it took so long for a Terminator 3 to happen is because James Cameron, like him or not, is actually one of those Hollywood guys with a modicum of respect for the material. He felt there was nowhere to go from Terminator 2... so the studio found a couple guys who did and had THEM (blog post) crank out the sequel! Still starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, of (blog post) course.. otherwise nobody would have ever bothered to watch this.
